A For Effort

Austin 4 Faith 2

Time flys....

We were decorating and Austin informed us he knows Santa isn't real. What???? I was going to cry! We asked him who told him and he said no one. He just said, "Come on Mom and Dad, do you really think I could believe in little elf's that make toys and reindeer's that fly?" Ok, I know he's 9 but he always acts like he believes in Santa. Then I said when did you find out? He said he's known for a couple of years now. What??? He started laughing and said he didn't want to hurt my feelings. He also had to rub in the fact that he knew the dirty boot prints were dad's work boots. He told us he appreciates our efforts! The cookie crumbs the letter's from the north pole etc. Then he gave me a big hug and said,"the glitter under the pillow was a nice touch too, but I don't believe in the tooth fairy either." I know this isn't a big deal but he's my baby and this is just the first step of growing up...
When did your kids find out there was no Santa? Do they still believe, how old are they? What efforts do you put into making them believe?

Haha, Well my daughter is only 4 1/2 and hasn't mentioned it. I think I was around Austin's age, but it was because my mean older cousins ruined it for me. My sister was born when I was 10 1/2 so I had to fake it for her until I was about 17. Haha.

Yeah we had this happen this weekend to. Ryan lost a tooth and i forgot to put money under his pillow. He then got a little suspicous of me looking like i had seen a ghost. he informed me that he knew it was me who put the money under his pillow and he knew about santa to. i asked why he didn't tell me he said he didn't want the other kids to know and also he is saving money for an xbox and a toothfairy contribution would help. that bugger it is nice that he wants the others to still believe though ;)

Sad how fast time flies. I'm sure Faith will act like she believes in Santa till she's like 16 just to keep getting presents.

My oldest child is only 3 1/2 years old and is just starting to understand the concept of Santa Claus this year. Because of her excitment of Christmas, I am really enjoying the season this year. I hope that my kids NEVER discover that Santa isn't real.

I like the diry boot idea and may have to steal it from you!

My oldest Grace has her doubts. My niece, who is 11, told her the toothfairy, Santa, Easter Bunny are make believe. I asked her,"does she get present from Santa & her parents?" Grace said, "no". I told her that's because she doesn't believe anymore. If Grace wanted to receive present from both she would have to still believe. She bought it. There have been time I swore I was gonna get caught. I write letters to the girls on toothfairy paper, add some "pixie" dust, and have given each child's fairy a name. I have forgotten to leave money, just said well maybe it was past the deadline to leave it. Then I forgot to put the letter & tooth out of site, and my oldest found it (it was hers). I told her maybe she was getting older and the toothfairy was giving them back to her. (She had asked her TF in a prior letter what she did w/ all the teeth, and told they give them back when their older). She bought that one too! I don't know how much longer I can keep it up!
