We Won't Do That Again...

On our way to Ohio, we took a family vote....
Raise your hand if you want to go to Niagara Falls...
7 hands went up!
So we turned around and headed to Buffalo, NY.

It was cold there....
ice and snow everywhere!
so cold that when you cry, your tear might freeze...

and your nose turns red....
so cold you want to cuddle up to keep warm....
so cold the sidewalk freezes over you could ice skate on it...
or pretend you have a snowboard and slide down...
so cold you could go ice fishing on Lake Erie...
some ice fisherman drill up to 100 holes a day!
They actually camp out in the middle of the lake for days in what I'm told is a
ice shanty, ice shack, fish house, shack, bobhouse, or ice hut whatever you want to call it....

Some have tent like houses and others have fancy ice houses with heaters, satellite and even toilets.

The boys standing in the middle of Lake Erie.

Many fishermen will go out with 2.5 inches of good ice for walking, but the recommended is 4 inches, 5–6 inches for Sleds (Snow Machines, Snowmobiles) 7–12 for light cars and 14–16 inches for full sized trucks and about 20inches for strollers..( so we stayed on dry land)

Care must be taken, because sometimes ice will not form in areas with swift currents, leaving open areas which freeze with much thinner ice.

Which after the boys went out in the middle of Lake Erie we found out about the rescue that happened last Feb.

Off-shore winds broke off miles wide pans of ice and left numbers of fishermen stranded. They had to be rescued by helicopters and Coast Guard. One man even lost his life.

This all happened right where the boys went out...
So, we won't be going out on any frozen ponds or lakes anymore.

we will stick to fishing on dry land or in a boat in warmer weather:)

It may of been very cold but it was a sight we will never forget! Seeing all of God's amazing creations......life couldn't get any better!

Looks so beautiful! Wow and soooo cold! Poor Farrah! I just miss hugging their little faces. I wish I was there in person to see this all, but am so grateful for seeing all the pictures and knowing you are all enjoying this trip so much is a blessing. Love you all.
