Not Me Monday

My baby (ok so he's 9) but he's still my baby. I dropped him off this morning to get on a bus with his football team. They are headed to the mountains for a day of fun in the snow. They will be hanging out at a cabin enjoying food and playing in the snow. Building snowmen, sledding, snowboarding, etc. While I sit here worried sick that that the roads are to dangerous or that he may be too cold.

I did not just let him bring a snowboard.
I did not just let him bring a snowboard being that he has never been on a snowboard.

I think I was the only mom who was a nervous wreck. Everyone else dropped their boys off and left. They didn't even get out of the car. The boys gave their parents a cool nod goodbye and got on the bus.
NOT Me... I made sure I got his friends cell phone numbers and that they had mine just in case.
I did not just beg Austin to let me follow the bus.
I did not promise to stay a couple cars behind so none of his friends would notice I was following them.
I did not question the bus driver and make sure he knew what he was doing.
The bus driver did not look at me like I was weird.
When I saw them fitting the bus tires with chains...
I did not bribe Austin with a lot of money not to go.
Then I did not try to scare him into thinking he could get snowed in and miss Christmas with his family....that didn't work either.
He was way too excited!
I did not embarrass him with lots of hugs and kisses then watch him get on the bus. I prayed, then stood in the pouring rain waving and blowing kisses to the bus as it drove off...... I know, I know, but he's my baby! Do you blame me?? It's our job as mother's to worry isn't it?

That made me giggle and smile inside. You are the mom I am...obsessive and overprotective in a good way! lol The whole bribing him with money and telling him he might get stuck....that was classic.

I'm sure I'll be the same way when Aven gets older except I would have actually followed behind anyway. Probably in my bath rob and curlers in my hair. haha

I worry a lot about my kids too. It's normal. You just want them to be safe. The sad thing is, we will NEVER stop being worried about them! I told my husband recently that I want them to live with us forever...I don't think he agreed with my plan.
