I'm Nauseous

I know what your thinking.LOL ok that's not funny to some. It's not that kind of nauseous, I'm just sick about how people are acting like Obama is a savior.
The kids and I watched some of the inauguration as part of our History lesson for that day. The kids and I stopped and prayed for the new president. We also were talking about how so many people worship him. He's just a man. It gave me a great opportunity to talk to the kids about how so many people put there trust in people or things and not in God. Then I read what Blue Eyed Bride had to say and she hit the nail on the head with her post. Everything I was thinking!

I'm really moved to see so many Americans joined together in Washington for a common purpose. I love patriotism and any time I see millions of American flags waving around I'm going to get choked up.

I am, however, disappointed that so many people are wearing shirts with Obama's face on them and hats that say "Obama." Why not just a shirt that says "America?" I am so tired of hearing this person be glorified and tired of hearing people talk like he is the savior they've been waiting for. He is a man. Just a man. I just think it's really unhealthy to treat a human being this way. He has big shoes to fill and really high expectations to meet and I think Americans are making those expectations bigger and bigger every day as they build Barack Obama up to be this savior.

As I saw all of the flags waving around this morning, I thought, "Wow. Wouldn't it just be incredible if that many people got together to glorify Jesus Christ? What if that many people got together and instead of shouting 'OBAMA', they shouted 'JESUS?'"

Can we have a $150 million celebration on Easter Sunday?

I heard Oprah say the other day about inauguration day, "What a day of rejoicing that will be!"

I'm sorry. Those are the words to a hymn. It goes, "When we all get to heaven, what a day of rejoicing that will be."

I'll be praying for our country, for the Obamas as a family, and for our new President. I hope these next four years are the best our country has seen. But I don't plan to praise Barack Obama after that happens. I will surely thank him, but I'll be praising Jesus.

Just voted for you as hottest mommy blogger and best parenting blog. But I'm not getting a t-shirt or hat with your name/face on it! :)

I whole-heartedly agree. I've also felt a great sense of patriotism and I am thrilled at how far our nation has come, but lifting up a man to that degree only sets us up for disappointment.

You know I agree. It is so sad that as a nation we have turned from the true and living God and have replaced Him with idols. The Lord will not share His glory with anyone. He says in His Word that He will be exhalted among the nations. Very soon He will reveal who the One and Only Savior of this world is. The world is ripe to recieve and worship the leader the bible calls the Antichrist. I am sure people will be wearing shirts with his picture on them too. I am with you I will be praising Jesus!

My husband and I were just talking about this. He was telling me how he doesn't get why everyone is lifting him up to be this superhero when he is just another person that gets to make decisions for our country. This post hit it right on the spot. Thanks for sharing.

Do you feel you’re maybe confusing the two? And that perhaps our nation was rejoicing in a political leader and not a spiritual leader as the setting properly dictates? My thoughts go out to our new president… he has been put on a political pedestal so high that he is surly to fall from it more than once. I can’t help but fear what the disappointment of those stumbles may materialize into for the Obama family. You are an amazing advocate for the Lord, but try to ease your mind. How do you know all those people were not out there thanking Jesus for delivering political hope? Do not be so severe on your own nation; there is a lot of good out there too. In taking the oath of office it is no longer required that the president elect say, “So help me God,” but Obama made a point of saying it. Find some comfort in the knowledge that our President knows where his “bread is buttered.” ;)

You said it girl. I have never commented on a blog of someone I did not know (I'm a friend of Shannon's) but your blog really hit a nerve with me. Praise God that he has followers like you who are brave enough to speak his truth (whether it is "popular" or not). Jesus lives!!
