Blown Away...

We all know how my son loves science and wants to be a creationist when he grows up. So we tend to spend alot of time looking at creation vs. evolution. Thanks to homeschooling we can spend extra time in this area. Today in science we were all blown away at what we learned!
I started the day out by reading through Genesis and talking about creation. The kids were like we know this already mom! Come on teach us something new.... But I was trying to make a point so I said listen...listen to how awesome God really is...we read how God made the sun and the moon. I stopped and talked about how God must have gathered every shade of red, blue, pink, yellow, purple and orange and whipped them into a dazzling sunrise and a beautiful sunset. God found them so beautiful that he continued making sunrise after sunset, sunset after sunrise, until he could be sure no two of them would ever be alike. This got the kids talking...
Then after talking about the stars I had the kids watch a dvd by Louie Giglio. (A MUST) if you have never seen it! After watching that dvd I thought I would google him and see if I could find some youtube videos on him. Then we decided to hold off on math and continue on with science. These videos were amazing and had my kids eyes glued to the computer.

Bare with me it's brief, so please read on....
an interesting thing a few of us know. I want to share what I learned but I fear not being able to convey it as well as I want. I will try and share it anyway.

He (Louie) was talking about how BIG our God is...how He spoke the universe into being..etc. etc. Then He went on to speak of how this star-breathing, universe creating God ALSO knitted our human bodies together with amazing detail and wonder. The eye along is incredible.
Louie went on to talk about how we can trust that the God who created all this, also has the power to hold it all together when things seem to be falling apart...how our loving Creator is also our sustainer.

And then... he started talking about laminin. (hang on this is cool) Here is how wikipedia describes them :'Laminins are a family of proteins that are an integral part of the structural scaffolding of basement membranes in almost every tissue. You see....laminins are what hold us together....LITERALLY. They are cell adhesion molecules. They are what holds one cell of our bodies to the next cell. Without them, we would literally fall apart. But then we saw what laminin looked like.

Here is what the structure of laminin looks like...AND THIS IS NOT a 'Christian portrayal' of it....if you look up laminin in any scientific/medical piece of literature, this is what you will see...

Now tell me that our God is not the coolest!!! Amazing. I now love laminin!!! The glue that holds us together.....ALL of us....is in the shape of the cross. Immediately Colossians 1:15-17 comes to mind.

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by him all things were created; things in heaven and on earth , visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things HOLD TOGETHER.. ' Colossians 1:15-17

Call me crazy. I just think that is very, very, very cool. Thousands of years before the world knew anything about laminin, Paul penned those words. And now we see that from a very LITERAL standpoint, we are held together....one cell to another.....by the cross.
Hello!!!!

You would never in a quadrillion years convince me that is anything other than the mark of a Creator who knew EXACTLY what laminin 'glue' would look like long before Adam even breathed his first breath!!
Watch out for some vlog videos from Austin on this one! In the mean time check out some of these videos!

Now, my kids won't ask me where babies come from either.

How can ANYONE deny that a Creator did all of this???

Very cool! Thank you for sharing that. What an awesome God we serve! I love when He blows us out of the water like that. Knowing these things just makes me wonder why someone would choose not to believe and worship such a wonderful Creator!

Wow! there is always so much to learn about our awesome God! Like the Word says " What is man that you are mindful of him or the son of man that you should care for him ?" With all that He is, He still cares enough to capture each of our tears in a bottle or count the very hairs on our heads. Cannot fathom a God like that, but I am eternally grateful He called me to be His. Cannot wait to see Him and to touch the hands that made it all! Praise Him! Thank you for sharing all of the information.

I'm not sure if you have these links or not, but it's neat to listen to if they are interested in science.

This little video is so cool to watch with the kids. It's like a little creation bed time story.
