1st Day Of School

The kids woke up to new school supplies, new school outfits, and a Schultuete for each of them.

Each of their Schultuete's were filled with school supplies and other fun goodies. We read about the history of the Schultuete and studied a little bit about Germany. I plan to make this a tradition every year on the first day of school.
This year in my class I have a...

a very excited 5th grader(can you tell?)

3rd grader(just in case you didn't know why she was holding up the #3)

and a Pre-K

This is my TA and my line leader....

These two spend lots of time playing together....

Landen kept busy with some preschool activities I have prepared for him each day...
(excuse the chocolate on his face) We had chocolate donuts (It's the 1st day I want them to think their teachers cool)

matching paper clips to the same color paper then count the paper clips. (It's amazing how long this keeps him busy and he's learning!)
We also worked on our tide pool unit study and read Pagoo. You can find the unit study we are doing HERE. (I ordered Pagoo from amazon for $4.00) I use homeschoolshare.com for a lot of my teaching ideas.
For a fun week of spelling we posted sticky notes ALL over the house.

Austin of course has the harder words.
Next week we will use the same words but write them in Spanish.

After a very busy morning it was time to take a lunch break.
We headed to a near by German deli....

The kids tried some different German food.

For lunch they had polish and veal bratwurst along with sauerkraut (which the they didn't like) and German potato salad.
The owners were so nice they gave the kids German flag stickers and German candy.
And what's a German meal without ending it with some apple strudel!
Then it was off to take Landen to afternoon preschool. (He goes 2 days a week for 3 hours) The babies take a 2 hour nap during this time and the older two and I can catch up on important subjects that we need to cover.
It was Landen's 1st day of Pre-K

I love my kids and am so happy to be able to stay home with them and have the freedom to teach them.

I'm excited for this school year...we have SO many fun things planned! I will do my best to share them with you too:)

Wow! What an inspiring blog you have! I am always so blessed when I read it. Love all your homeschooling tips. My kids go to a great Christian school, but I always tell them homeschooling is an option and the more I read your blog the more exciting I think that would be. You seem so very organized!

What a fun surprise for them to wake up to. I love that
schultuete idea. I have never heard of them/that before. I am so going to do that for my kids next year. I don't care if two of them ARE in college. I bet they'll be the only ones to get one!

You make it all look so easy and fun!
