Let Me Ask You A Question....

Today I write to you with a heavy heart, and wanted to share. I know this blog is mostly for bragging on my kids but once in awhile I share what's on my heart. I am sickened with the way abortion is taken so lightly. Let me start out by saying I do hair out of my home and talk to many young girls every week. I am faced with hearing some stories that make my stomach turn. I have been put in postitions where girls I know are getting abortions.

I'm sure I will be losing some clients because I am not afraid to share. God is teaching me to step out of my little comfort zone and to get out there and be used.
I feel very strongly about abortion. I will not sway on my view.
Let me just start out by saying,my view on abortion is very clear and consistent. I believe life begins at conception. Therefore I believe that abortion is murder. Whether the baby is a “clump of cells” or close-to-term.

Politicians can craft all the “right to privacy” laws they want. Murder called by any other name is still repugnant in the eyes of God. Even some who call themselves pro-life just can’t seem to hold their position when it comes to rape and incest. (or stem cell)It’s OK to murder the baby if he was conceived during these acts. That’s what George Bush believes. For me, there is no exception, and I will maintain that position for the rest of my life.
There that said....
(I'm sure I'll get comments on this) What if you daughter was raped etc. (NOTE) only 1% of all abortions are related to rape or incest. What about the other millions of babies killed.

This nation is in a murderous cycle of violence that makes the Nazi Holocaust look mild by comparison. All this talk on ending the war but yet Nearly 2,000,000 babies are aborted a year in America. 4,000 a day!!Every third baby conceived now is being murdered. Among teenage women there are 736 abortions for every 1,000 births. Among married women abortions now exceed births! More babies are killed than are born. Some would tell us that there is an abortion about every 15 seconds in America.
My heart breaks!

I know many girls that have gotten abortions and talk to many girls who's friends get abortions like it's birth control (the talk I hear while I'm doing hair by h.s. girls) I hear the stories;(
Another one I've heard,"girls will just go back to using hangers and killing themselves." OH, and abortion's safe? Keep the excusing coming... I've even had a friend tell me that if her baby is deformed she would have to get an abortion because there is no way she can take care of him/her. So kill the precious baby? It's not our position to play God. Another friend/client had 2 kids and her and her husband weren't planning baby #3 so she aborted the baby. They wanted that perfect family a boy and a girl...and didn't want to except another one of God's blessings.
How can us Christians sit back and take this lightly? We need to get out there and speak for the speachless.
I will be at Planned Parenthood tomorrow taking part in the 40 Days for life Please keep me in your prayers. We will be taking a positive upbeat pro-life message in a peaceful way.
Pray for the girls considering abortions tomorrow and for the clinic workers that there hearts be changed.
For us Christians there is only the trying, the rest is God's business, not ours. Yet we are given to know that in trying, we fulfill God's commands and build up His Kingdom. My hands will be wiped clean.
Planned Parenthood has gone so far as to say, "This is nothing more than a means of preventing disease; (pregnancy being noted as a disease.") If you think that sounds farfetched, I will remind you of a paper by Dr. Willard Kates, from the Planned Parenthood Physicians Association. The title of the paper is, "Abortion as treatment for unwanted pregnancy: The second sexually transmitted disease." "

Pregnancy then is seen by Planned Parenthood as a sexually transmitted disease that needs to be cured by abortion. Planned Parenthood has somewhere approaching 1,000 abortion clinics doing somewhere approaching 75,000 murders a year. What I can't stand is that they are receiving millions of dollars of support from the U. S. Government and the United Way, and other agencies like that. Our nation, and other nations in the world are frankly wiping out an entire generation of human beings in mass infanticide.

It is estimated that perhaps as many as 75,000,000 babies will be murdered this year around the world—75,000,000!!!!
That's more than all the deaths in all the wars!!!! In all the history of the world!! This kind of murder is shocking and what's more shocking is the processes of abortion.

Because abortion is legal in America, many have justified their choice. “If it’s legal, it can’t be wrong, right?”

We now have an entire generation of men and women who have never known abortion to be illegal; a generation of people who have never been broken over their sin of abortion.

As a result, the consequences of unconfessed sin weigh on their souls, yet they have never connected the dots as to why their hearts are heavy. No wonder we have millions of women who are struggling with depression, addictions, eating disorders, cutting and more.

Now let me ask you question:
When God asks you on Judgment Day what you believed during your lifetime about abortion, what will you tell him?

Bridget, I could not have said it better. THANK YOU for being willing to speak out and share your heart.

Children are a gift, a blessing. They are not an inconvenience.

Our country does not value life in any way, from babies to the elderly. God help us!

I love reading your blog and I had the same situation as you. I am 20 yrs. old and I decided to keep my son and he is the best thing that has ever happened to me. I am going through school to be a teacher and I admire your strength and courage. you are one of the best examples of a good mother. I hope to read more...Ashleigh

I commend you on being so honest.

I feel that fear and ignorance are what allow those women and girls who get abortions to do so. Education on abstinence, preventing pregnancy, and pregnancy itself, along with emphasis put on how wonderful adoption is, is so important. Funding should be put towards that. Christian or non-Christian, people need to value human life and know right from wrong.

Good luck tomorrow!

Life DOES begin at conception!!! Before I had my boys I was pro-choice... after becoming a Mom, I am now pro-Life, b/c I can't imagine taking away the lives of my children!! (Not that I would have, but a lot of other people out there do.)

I think it's wonderful that you are speaking up for what you believe! =)

On a side note . . . . I would like to bring up . . . our Social Security System is a mess. Ever wonder why? It was set up for one generation to take care of the next. We as a "people" have allowed the generation that was to take care of us be murdered! Please think about this while you are meditating on Bridgette's blog.
Thank you for writing this! xxoo

Just found your blog through another's and love reading! What a great post! Their are so many parents that are unable to have babies and yet women feel their only way out is to abort. Don't even get me started on the issue when it comes to people getting all bent out of shape about cutting down a tree but have no issue with ending a life. my heart breaks over this. They truly don't know what they are missing out on. Children are a gift from the Lord and so thankful they are His children. Blessings!

I totally agree with you. I had a cousin who got pregnant at 16, got an abortion and then turned around and got pregnant again and had another abortion all with in 2 years. I think that if you think your mature enough to have sex, then you need to take on the consequences that come with it.

Bridget, I am so glad you are speaking out about this. Children are a gift from God and their are so many unable to have the opportunity to carry and deliver their own child. I don't understand the lack of parenting that goes on in teenagers lives today. I feel like there is a great need of mentoring and education for teens today. I know there are so many parents who are encouraging sexual behavior and such and it is so sad. If only these poor girls understood what it is going to do to the rest of their lives, how it will take away so much that they could experience in a wonderful way some day. I believe it is time for parents to do a better job of teaching/loving these teens so that they understand first off why they shouldn't be having sex outside of marriage. Then I believe we should be doing more to offer these young girls a way to carry the child without turning their lives upside down. I know that a lot of girls are very embarrassed to go to school while they are pregnant, etc. So abortion is an easy way out...down the line it may turn out that they feel badly for doing it, and then it happens again and it was an easy fix then and it will be once again. I also believe that we should provide better protection, but that also brings up so much as to encouraging the behavior. I believe the best answer is mentoring. Bringing these girls to a different level of love and understanding and at a young age. So many are longing to be loved and the sad thing is they feel like they are loved if they are having sex. So I definetly respect what you are doing to stand up for these little lives. I also feel like we must find a way to invest in the lives of these young girls before they are put in these positions of deciding. Sorry I just wrote a novel here!

Bridget,
I found this through my cousin-in-law and thought you would be interested:

I think this is a very important cause, too! If no one ever spoke up about anything what kind of a world we live in? People are allowed to have their own opinions and feelings; we don't all have to agree! You are able to share your thoughts with out disrespecting other people- that's the difference.

I think I comment on just about every post of yours because I love them all! I frequently tell my husband about you and I say "that's the kind of mom I want to be...see she has a big family and homeschools & love God!" Way to go! You are an inspiration. On to today's post...AMEN! Working as a teacher, I saw (and heard) so many disturbing things among my students. It truly breaks my heart. Instead of working to prevent juvenile sexual activity, we're handing out condoms in a junior high school? Are you kidding me? I'm so glad you're participating tomorrow. I pray that God will use you in a BIG way!

Wonderful message Bridget. Reminded me of that song played at our Church a couple of months ago...."Let me live, mama:(" It breaks my heart to think about it. <3 Amber

Dear Bridget,

You never know... You may GAIN some clientele out of their respect for such a strong and courageous stance on this sticky subject. My mother has been a strong force in the pro-life movement for as long as I can remember and I am thankful to her for her example.

A long while back I read an article that speaks about contraception, but ultimately discusses the affects it has had on our society, etc. I think you might like it. It has changed the way I think about the world, indefinitely.

I agree with you completely. However, I don't know that making abortion illegal will change the fact that so many unborn children are being murdered, and here's why. In Brazil, abortion is illegal, and yet it is one of the top countries for abortion. Why is that?

Changing laws doesn't change hearts. I believe that we have to appeal to people's hearts and love them, and in loving them tell them the truth. Yelling at women outside abortion clinics doesn't change hearts. I think this is a classic case of "What Would Jesus Do?" Would he be persecuting women for making this decision, or would he lovingly tell them the truth about what they are doing, in an attempt to change their heart?

The fact is, that God is all about free will. He wants us to love Him because we WANT to, not because we have to. Do we want people to not have abortions because it's illegal, or because they understand what exactly is going on? Because let's be honest here - the people that aren't having an abortion simply because it's illegal probably aren't people we want raising children to begin with.

I believe that abortion is wrong. I'm very vocal about my viewpoints, and am not afraid to tell people, and have lost friends because of it. But I don't know that making abortion illegal is the answer. I wonder if we should be empowering women to know the TRUTH, and then allow them to make their own decision. After all, the Bible does say that all sin is equal. Therefore, a woman having an abortion is the same as a woman gossiping about another. We are all in this together, and I think that we should be requiring mandatory education and empowering women instead of persecuting them.

Just my $.02...

Brook,
Thank you for posting, yes, I think we need to educate in love. We are all sinners and I really do care for girls that have to go through this. When I see them walking in the abortion clinic I just want to go up to them and hug them and talk. I was faced with the decision at 18 and know that choosing life for my baby has been such a blessing in my life. Abortion is not a fix it's a trade. A trade for guilt and more for the rest of your life. If only they really knew. God forgives girls who have had abortions and loves them they need to turn to him to set them free. Thanks for all the encouragement girls:) p.s. I would never yell or say mean things outside clinics I am there to share with them out of love:)

I don't think that you would. :) I've seen it happen though and it's so sad. And these people do it in the name of "God" too. God will pour down his wrath when it's appropriate - but that's his wrath, not ours to put onto other people. I don't know what the ultimate solution is to this problem.. other than to show people that it truly is murder. If you were to ask people on the street if they thought murder was okay, I don't think you would have anyone that would say "sure it is!" But at the same time, if you were to ask people about abortion on the street, you would get mixed reviews. So how can we show women the truth, and educate them so that they know what they're really doing? I think that is the question we should all be asking ourselves, instead of how can we change the law and feed into this fight that goes on in our corrupt justice system, that goes NOWHERE.

I think that "Option Ultrasound" is a fabulous example of this. This project works to purchase ultrasound machines for crisis pregnancy centers. Most women who are ready to have an abortion will change their minds after having an ultrasound, because they realize that the fetus growing inside of them isn't just a clump of cells, but a living being. Maybe mandatory ultrasounds, or additional education before abortions would be a better option, than making it illegal.

I don't have all of the answers, but my heart really goes out to these women. They are in what they view as an impossible situation, and I think that so many of them don't really know what is happening in their bodies, and their child's bodies. They also truly don't understand what abortion means.

Another great organization is the Feminists for Life. It's rather interesting that feminism has fed us women SO many lies. That women should be working instead of raising children. That abortion is a woman's right. The fact is that abortion breaks down women, and takes away their power - the very thing that feminism was supposed to defeat. Their stance is that "Women deserve better than abortion" and I agree wholeheartedly. We were created in God's image, with love, and we deserve better than the lies that have been handed to us. (They are at http://www.feministsforlife.com/) Another thing that I like about this organization is that they target college campuses - women that are at that age that you mentioned, and faced with tough choices.

Anywho... sorry to rant, this is just a topic that I feel very strongly about and have researched quite a bit. I think that instead of looking at things in black and white - as in, legal or illegal, maybe we should be looking at education instead.

I don't think you would yell at women outside clinics, from what I can tell (from reading your blog) you seem like a compassionate individual, someone that I would get along with well! ;)
