Louisville...or however you say it!

After checking out all the great horse sculptures on the street corners we couldn't wait to get to the main attraction, The Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory Tour.
We had a ball learning about bats at the Louisville Slugger Factory and Museum.! (I'm trying to be creative in my writing ha!) get it ball hahaha! ok, that was lame. You all know I'm not a talented writer, just a mom trying to document our journey and share it with you as well.
And to be honest it's hard to think and be creative when your in an RV (with much noise) and knowing I only have a few minutes to bust out a blog post.
So, like I told my kids today when they wanted the "big" bats:
you get what you get and you don't throw a fit.
Here it is giving my best shot in the few minutes I have.

The boys (meaning my 3 boys)were in HEAVEN. All those bats... I have to admit it was very cool to see the history of a baseball bat and the fact that they were making the major league bats as we walked through the factory.

We also learned there is a lot of ways to say Louisville:

-Looavul.- Looeyville.- Looaville.- LouEville-

Every time we say it to someone they tell us we are saying it
wrong????

And here you have 2 future ball players who will be happy to be under contract with Louisville Slugger!

There were no cameras aloud in the factory part of our tour.

We saw bats made from scratch, watched them get painted and the whole process.

We learned about the history of the company.
After our tour they gave us all a free mini bat.
(which I soon had to take away, they were being used as weapons on each other)

So we played with plastic bats instead.

Daddy teaching Finley how to hit the ball....

she's a natural!

Farrah wanted a pink bat, but settled for purple. She could care less about hitting the ball.

Then Daddy had a chance to try out a Louisville slugger straight from the factory!

(he was like a little boy in a candy store)
Look how excited he looks:)

Austin had his turn to show off too....nice swing!

They played around in the batting cages for awhile.

The "sweet" spot!

Forget pee wee ball this kid can hit!

We walked the hall of fame...

Babe Ruth

Being silly in the museum.

Stopped to read a book while waiting for a movie about Louisville bats to start.

outside the museum...

We all had a great day!

Especially these boys!

I had no idea you were coming through my neck of the woods! I'm glad you had a good time. Louisville is truly a wonderful city. I feel really silly saying this.. I have never been to the bat museum! We do visit the giant bat whenever we go to the science museum, though.

From someone who has lived here all her life... it is pronounced Loo-ah-vul :)

Very cool! We're taking a 30 day cross continent tour in a couple of months and this is one of the places we'll be stopping. :)

I live in Louisville! I hope you guys enjoyed my town. I love how it's the perfect blend of mid-west friendly and southern charm. Did you get a chance to do anything else while you were in the area?

We've driven by there, but weren't able to stop for the tour. Your trip is showing us all of the places that we want to go back to on our next trip.

We visited Lousville the summer before last. Loved the Lousville Slugger Museum! Such a fun stop. I think we discovered the right way to say it is "Loo-uh-vul" it's kind of in your throat. They sure can pick out us foreigners though when we say "loui-ville" huh?

We're taking another road trip this summer. Have you been to Houston or San Antonio? Any tips if you have?
