You better not lie, I'm telling you why......

All my children still believe in Santa Claus. Although year after year playing Santa is getting harder and harder. The kids list are becoming more expensive! Austin at the age of eight is starting to question some of the Santa stuff. Like, "Mom, no known species of reindeer can fly ya' know?" He hasn't yet asked me if Santa is real or not. Yet, I still feel I am lying to him in a way by keeping the truth from him. I ask myself, am I doing the right thing? Encouraging the man in the big red suit who comes down the chimney and brings them gifts. It's how my husband and I remember our childhood believing in Santa until we were old enough to figure it out or an older sibling gave the secret away. I remember driving home from grandma's house looking up into the sky "thinking" I saw Santa. Those are some of my greatest childhood memories and I don't want to take those away from my children. I just figured we would pass the tradition down to our kids and do the same thing. Although my husband and I have been giving it alot of thought, Is it the right thing to do? I mean after all we are lying to them. We in no means want to take the fun out of Christmas for our children. I love Christmas and want to create many memories with them. My children know what Christmas is all about and who's birthday it is and why we celebrate Christmas. I always figured we can have both. I do put more emphasis on the birth of Jesus than I do on Santa Claus. Although they still seem more excited about Santa and presents than celebrating Jesus and this is where I ask myself if I'm doing the right thing??? Does this mean there will be no Toothfairy or I will have to tell Landen the next time were at Disneyland that's not really Mickey Mouse that's just a man wearing a costume. Where do you stop? Just a little confused......Love to hear comments on this one. I know every family is different. Thanks and be honest!

Being a child is all about the imagination... That is what keeps us young. Keep on letting them beleive there is a Santa and a toothfairy, etc. How awesome is it to wake up to your children on Christmas morning with all the excitement in their eyes knowing Santa came to their home, Or waking up to money under their pillow from the toothfairy... All of these moments are priceless..
As long as your children know the true meaning of Christmas let them keep on believing and grow up with the same wonderful childhood memories you treasure.

Hi Bridget,
You need to get your own blog title. That one's been taken. I'd appreciate it if you changed it. That title and unique quote are VERY personal to me and my son. I would prefer that you not steal it.

You have a really nice blog. and I love the blog title!
I too have a problem about lying to my kids about Santa. My husband is worse than me. All though only my 2 youngest still believe it is still hard to keep the secret. But we do stress the true reason behind Christmas.I was very proud of my 14 yr. daughter was interviewed by some college kids about Christmas things. Favorite Movie, Favorite Carol, What started Christmas...... Of course she answered The Birth of Jesus Christ. Made me feel really good that she had to think on the other answers but not that one. She spit it out like as if there was any other answer.

As a reader and fan of the REAL Beast Mom blog, I suggest you find another blog name, stealing someone else's very original and very personal blog title is just wrong. How interesting that you're blogging about being honest with your children when you yourself are not setting the best example by blatantly using something that belongs to someone else.

Tsk tsk.

Another fan of the REAL Beast Mom...

I searched your site trying to find more info about why you are using that blog title, but found nothing. And your profile says barely anything about you either. I find it interesting that you are blogging about honesty and yet you have not only plagiarized someone else's blog title, you paired it with the quote from HER son!

Christina's blog (the real Beast Mom) has been going since July 2006 on the site of a major Seattle newspaper. There is no question whose blog came first.

You seem like a nice enough person and you've got Christian-y stuff all over your site, so I'm hoping somehow this is some kind of mistake. I don't know how it could be, though, because it's so blatant. Please honor Christina, her son, her family and her blog by changing your blog title immediately. A public apology and explanation for the plagiarism would be appreciated too.

In response to the simpleminded Beast Mom....

First of all I would like to ask where you get off accusing someone of “stealing” your blog name. Do you really think a Mom with four kids has nothing better to do then go around trying to steal a name for her blog that was meant for close family and friends to look at? Not for you and all your blog friends to ridicule. If you had any decency you would have asked her where she got the name to begin with, or asked to take it down before you go on ranting and raving how someone stole your name. I know for a fact that the name was not stolen. My niece (other beast mom’s daughter) has written that many times in cards to her. She has written me many things with misspelled words that we all think is just as great as I’m sure you thought it was when your son wrote the card to you. I’m sure he’s not the only kid in the world to have ever misspelled something.

Maybe you should have taken a harder look at her blog when you visited it and maybe you would realize she’s not looking to become a famous writer or would want to compete against you. She is a loving Mother who wants to keep her family updated.

By the way I have a good friend named Christina, should I be warning her that you will be after her for stealing your name to?

Thanks- Beast Ant Tea

I don’t know who you are to try and judge someone about what is on there site when you really have no clue what your talking about. You asked Bridget to honor Christina, her son, her family by changing the name. But do you really Bridget was treated fairly when all you guys start accusing her of plagiarism and asking for an apology when have no idea what really happened. I think the really apology is owed to her. And what is with the comment about the Christian-y stuff all over her site?? Is that supposed to make her more accountable for something? I urge you to mind your own business next time instead of jumping to conclusions to make someone feel bad.

It's amazing how many ignorant readers there are. How can you judge someone on parenting skills when you don't even know them? Maybe you should read her blog and take a lesson on how to parent. Do you think passing judgement on someone when you have no clue who they are or what they stand for is a good quality to teach your kids? She is one of the best mom's I know and would never intentionally go and try and hurt someone the way you and other readers have.

What has this world come to that we attack someone who we have never met over the name of ther blog. you ladies should be ashamed of yourselves. seriously is that all you have is a silly name to define who you are. i am a close friend of bridget and i adore her kids and believe me she is the proudest mother i know she named the blog because of her daughter not so she could be like you (god knows she would not want that).and the part about a public apology get a life you ladies seriously have nothing better to do than to start a lynch mob of a blog title. i am sure bridget will gladly give you the title of BEAST although i could think of a few other words that start with "B" that would be more suiting. bridget is definetly the beauty you are the BEAST!

Holy crap! All this snottiness over one little blog title? Aren't we all adults here? It seems as though the "REAL" beast mom needs to take a long hard look at what makes her the only person on the earth worthy of using that particular blog title. What is her first name? Is she going to hunt down every other woman on the planet who shares the same name and bully her into changing it...because hey, she had that name first? Get a grip on what it means to be an adult,"REAL" beast mom!! This isn't first grade. We don't run over to an outfit at the mall and yell "Tap Tap, my outfit!" or complain that some other girl is wearing our same hair style, do we? No...at least not those of us who have matured into adults. I am just shocked that anyone would have the audacity to question Bridget's character based on her blog title. I've known Bridget for well over 13 years, and trust me...she is an honorable woman who does speak the truth and upholds the ideals of christianity more than any other person I know. It is all of you protesters who should be ashamed of your hurtful words and uncalled for accusations. I say... you keep the damn blog title and suggest that the "REAL" beast mom, finds a doctor who will remove the stick that is obviously wedged up miss "REAL Beast Mom's" rear end!!
