Some of you have asked me about information on fieldtrips we go on. I usually plan a couple months in advance. I will post information on my blog from now on...
Here's some we are going to in the next couple of weeks:
This weekend at Prado Park in Chino they are having an educational tribute to American Hero's past and present. Here's the link. My kids always have fun and learn a lot at this.

This is a link to another great event in November on the 14-15 in
Claremont. It is from 10 to 4. Every thing for your kids to do like
crafts, rides and food is 50 cent some things like cotton candy is a
dollar. They put on a play about the pilgrims. There is things you can
buy. All the money goes to the retirement community. It is great! And cheap!

On Oct. 18-19 from 8 to 5 at Cal Poly Pomona there is a pumpkin
patch. This is a great family day. It is so beautiful. If you go bring a
wagon. Pumpkins are $4. There is a petting zoo and horse rides.
Riley's Farm in Oak Glen.
Last year we did the Civil War this year we will be doing the Gold Rush Adventure. They also have Sleep Hollow, Washington Irving's timeless story of harvest, romance, and good-natured fun. Apple-bobbing,
pie-eating contests, dancing, great music, and great food!

Welcome To Our House
Come on in......
Were almost done unpacking and getting things in order. Can I grab you a cup of coffee or tempt you with a frozen waffle? Opps..are you stuck there? Sorry, here let me wipe the syrup off the table. The kids just finished breakfast. Let me put the babies down for a nap and start the older ones on their math. Then I can take you for a look around. Just watch out for the laundry piles and lego's on the floor. Oh and the man in the mask is my noisy 3 year old Landen. He likes to spy on people. He thinks he's spiderman. I've told him not to point guns at people. Please excuse me while I sit him in timeout.

Ok, now I can show you around.....

Fun With Venus Flytraps
The venus flytrap works in much the same way that our mouths works. (Look at me acting like I know what I'm talking about) LOL.. I study up on things before I teach the kids ok???
When we put food in our mouths the saliva begins to break down the food. Kind of like cotton candy. The venus flytrap works in the same way. It's acidy type juices come out and break down the insect so that it can digest it.
Venus flytraps open back up about 12 hours after they have either lost their prey or digested their prey.
Then I asked the kids why they think a fly would land on a venus flytrap. They guessed the beautful red color attracts the flies and other insects which makes them want to go and check it out. There right! (Aren't they smart) Once they do it it's too late and they are trapped.
Finally, we read some books about venus flytraps.
For fun the kids gave the flytraps some names. Then as they observe each one daily they refer to them by name. It makes observing more personal I guess...haha!
