Random Thoughts and Vents.....

from a mom with raging hormones!

For those that didn't get a chance to watch the New Year's video...I have a bun in the oven!
I'm still in shock. You would think I would be used to this by now.

-I knew over Christmas, I just kept it my very own little secret.

-I didn't even need a test to tell me I was pregnant. I just knew it! I have a milk gland under my left arm and the minute I'm pregnant it hurts. ok, that was TMI but that's how I know.

-I finally took a test. I was right!

-I planned on telling my husband on his birthday which is the 29th of December. We ordered Chinese takeout the day before his birthday and I just couldn't wait so.... I slipped a note in his fortune cookie that read," surprise, you will be a new daddy again!"

-I must ovulate every day of the month!

-I should know that by now. ha!

-One of my best friends from childhood is pregnant we are only weeks apart. Our Mom's were pregnant with us together.

-We kept it from the kids but told them on New Year's eve over a toast. Austin and Faith cried. I thought they were mad, but they were so excited they started crying. Then we all started crying. Farrah thought we were lying. She kept saying, "how do you know?"

-We didn't plan on telling people until I started to show, I guess this baby wants people to know sooner than later.

-We were scared to tell family, so we just made a video and emailed it then turned off our phones. ha!

-We were in the process of adoption and had prepared our hearts for that. We were going through a Christian agency but I guess God had other plans.

-I am considering a Vbac2

-After family knew, we thought we would wait awhile to tell the world. My sister didn't get that memo and announced it on Facebook.

-I told my Mom I was Pregnant on New Year's Eve this time as well as when I was 18 and unmarried. This time was harder! She's happy though!

-My Dad is not happy about the announcement. I expected it. It still hurts.

-I wish I could have this baby in Washington and have Charlotte the midwife that delivered my cousin deliver me. I would love to do a home birth....well, until I reach 3cm and am crying and screaming for an epidural. I still would love to experience a natural birth.

-Landen said that if it's another little sister he will be really angry with God.

-Farrah keeps asking me every 5 min if the baby is ready to come out yet? It's going to be a long pregnancy!

-If I do have a c-section again this will be my 3rd and they will have to cut above the cement.fun!

-I am printing out all the comments saying Congratulations from this blog and my Facebook page to put in the baby book.

-I never thought I'd be pregnant in my 30's. I never thought I'd be pregnant this many times. ha!

-I swear I'm showing already, my husband thinks it's all in my head.

-My sister bought me 5 boxes of lemon heads she knows they help with my nausea.

-My heart breaks for my little sister. She has been trying to get pregnant for over a year. I felt bad telling her I was pregnant. She just told me to be thankful I have a fertile womb. I pray she gets pregnant soon and we can go through it together.

-I really am thankful I can have children, I know how many women suffer from infertility. It is a true gift.

-I find it sad that family would have the nerve to roll their eyes at the announcement of a new baby.

-I'm usually very tired at this point, this time I have energy and feel great. I'll take it while I can.

-You see people's true colors when you announce a pregnancy in the high numbers.

-I pray this baby is growing healthy and continues to do so.

-Thank you for all your love and support, I love my blog friends!

-We are really, really, really excited about this baby!

Congrats. Children truly are a blessing. And I pray that God will use this pregnancy to change the hearts of those in your families who may not agree with your choice to have more children. May you and your husband continue to be mindful of God's plan for your lives. You seem to be great parents it's no wonder God has continued to bless you with more children!

Congratulations! How exciting that your family is adding another member to it. Your family will be so blessed by this new little one. : )
I felt the same way when we first found out #5 was on the way. I joke with my husband that he just looks at me and I'm pregnant. I'm such a fertile Myrtle. ; )

I can relate to having negative comments and reactions to announcing a pregnancy. I am due at the end of this month with #5 and our oldest just turned 7. I waited for a while to tell my parents, knowing that my Mom especially wouldn't be too excited. It is hard to have the people that you want to be excited the most, to be the most unenthusiastic. I think it's just sometimes hard for people to understand or relate to a bigger family mentality.

Best of luck finding a care provider. I have a few friends who used Charlotte up in WA and loved her. Are VBAC's in CA legal?

Bridget... I had the strangest dream a couple weeks ago that you adopted.. VERY random dream.

I am extremely happy for you guys. Big families are awesome!! You have so many people that look up to you and your family. The world if full of negative people.. Try not to let them get to you.

Tell your sister to hang in there and it will happen. All in time :) Jeff and I have been trying for 4 years now. It's all in God's hands.. Hang in there :)

Bridget, it sounds like our fathers are alike. I have NEVER been able to tell my dad that I'm expecting. My mother has to do it for me while I sit there and just wince and hope that he doesn't get too mad! And I'm a grown married woman!!! Hehe. His fear is that I won't have enough time for each child and he doesn't want any of them feeling left out. I remember though, not too long after baby
#6, he apologized and told me that he realized that he was wrong because it was evident that both my husband and I are amazing parents and treasure each child. Don't worry, your dad will come around. I'm soooo happy for you. I love being pregnant and as soon as I saw your adorable video I broke out in smile for you! Enjoy every little second of this pregnancy because it will fly by. I'm with Landen, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a BOY. That will even out your troop.

That's what I get for not watching the video. AHHHHHHH!!!!

So stinkin' exciting! Yay! Congrats!

And, following God doesn't always mean garnering the approval of others.

But you already knew that!

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY! Baby!

We are sooo... excited for you and your sweet family!!! LOVE the "fortune cookie" idea ... and the video message was a WONDERFUL way to share your news.

I can so relate to the unsupportive family situation. So sorry!

Yep ... I think Landen has the right idea. We had 3 girls and 3 boys ... everyone knew we were CRAZY to have so many. Now ... of course ... we have 6 girls and 6 boys. We like keepin' things even. Oops! Just forgot ... the girls are ahead now that we added a sweet daughter-in-love.

lots of HUGS & LOVE,

What awesome news! Congratulations! A baby! Another gift from God! I'm actually in my last month of my 3rd pregnancy... 36 weeks on Wed, with an induction scheduled for 1/31 (gestational diabetes). This baby was also a huge surprise for us! I was on a mission to lose weight, 32 lbs down and then bam! Pregnant! I cried selfishly a couple of times, and then got over it! Most likely this baby girl will be our last. I have a 4 yr old boy, Marcos (August 26!), an almost 22 month old girl, Ruby, and an almost 17 year old stepson! I just turned 30 this past Nov, and my hubby turned 38 also in Nov. I think big families are great! I'm the youngest of 9!

SO happy for you! I know how you feel...we have kept the last few under wraps until I was 20-24 weeks...because of the ugliness that comes out of people when you have more than 2 or 3. Doesn't make ANY sense to me :o) But, stay strong...when I knew I was pregnant, and sitting there with my parents who were saying.."If y'all have any more, we are gonna' hit y'all in the head with a hammer", or "I had a nightmare that you were pregnant again"..."We will pay for him to get a vasectomy"...(lol)it is hard to share the joy that you have when it isn't a joyful thing to them. ULTIMATELY, they adjust! They LOVE you! It is truly a gift to be the mother of many. You are going to do fine! If you need any VBAC support...I am here :o)Hugs!

Just remember what Mother Theresa said "Saying there are too many children in the world is like saying there are too many flowers."

I would love to have 5 or 6 children someday and I know already my family thinks that's insane. It's ad that people think they know better than you and your husband how many kids you should have. God bless and congrats!

Congratulations again! I could relate to this blog post so much-quite a bit in common. I never tell my mom I'm expecting (well, except the 1st). I make my sister do it for me then wait for the dreaded phone call from her.:)

It stinks, but it is what it is. I've just never got why people concern themselves so much over how many kids other people have.

You have a beautiful family and you seem to be one heck of a mom, so I say huge congrats to you!!! Children are a gift from the Lord and you love them well.:)

Hey Bridget, I think your families reaction may be just worry for you that's all, when it sinks in they will be happy. Trust in God, he is in control. Your dad, well he is your dad, your still his little girl. My father told my sister toward the end of her fourth pregnancy...."have courage" in basque of course...but lovingly said....he loves you still...

Don't let it get you down. :) Take care!

So, so SO very excited for you guys! Hooray!!!

Also, just-so-ya-know, all of my 4 were c-sections. My first two were breech, and our insurance wouldn't even let us try for a vbac after 2 c's. At that point, I was okay with it ... anyway, all of that to say, it all depends on your body & how you heal/scar. My 4th c was no worse than my 1st. My Dr. said she delivered one woman's 12th c-section baby ...

And at any rate, you get to have ANOTHER BABY!!! No matter how he/she gets here! :)

Congratulations! And I LOVE that Faith and Austin cried. Dear souls!!

Thank you for sharing this. All of it. But I was really smiling when you shared that you were 18 and unmarried when you were pregnant with your first. I did not smile because that is good, or fun. I smiled because I can see God's goodness through it all. I was 19 and unmarried and pregnant and had to live in a shelter for pregnant unmarried women. I look back to my serious sin and my complete lack of God and marvel at how he took that and made me into a woman who knows and fears Him, and who is completely taken care of by her husband and able to stay home and homeschool her kids. God is so good to us, is He not? Look at the beautiful way He is arranging your family and your heart? Look at all the cool and wonderful things you have learned this past year? God must want that taught to as many people as possible, even if you have to produce more to hear about His goodness :) I pray now as I type this that God blesses this pregnancy, blesses each one of your children, and blesses your marriage. I pray that you will have tough skin when it comes to the comments and attitudes of others, and a soft heart for the things of God.

Oh, I have tears reading this, Bridget. I know I already commented on FB, and maybe I'm livig vicariously through you since I'm too old for another pregnancy, but I'm just so excited for you! Don't worry, your family will come around. Be grateful you have such a close family. I have some serious fracture in my family right now...something I never thought I'd face. I only wish my biggest problem was some rolling eyes at a new pregnancy! You're going to be fine....this baby will be loved and God is soooooo good!

So excited for you and your family! You are an amazing mom and God knows that! Such a coincidence, the last time I was pregnant I announced it to my husband in a fortune cookie! How awesome is your news! I can SSOOOOO relate to you...We were in process of adopting when I got pregnant with baby #5 (I only have 5 haha)...my parents are not happy when I tell them we are pregnant each time JUST like when I told them when I was 18! I have read a lot of your blog and we have e-mailed back & forth a couple of times...I did not realize that you were unwed and 18 during your 1st pregnancy! ME TOO! Crazy! I'd LOVE to hear more about that time in your life...tell me more! :) Congratulations! My #5 is now 12 weeks old and we are back to adoption talk (because I am adopted). Love those adopted children! :) ~DIANA EVANS in TN

Awww Bridge =( As soon as I saw the news I told my mom "I wonder what their parents will say!?" You know we are so happy for you and children are the greatest gifts from God. When we told everyone we were having #4 Chris had to assure his family that it was indeed the LAST time he would be making that announcement! So sad we feel we have to "explain" ourselves to others, especially family.

I would LOVE to have 2 more (gotta be even numbers of course) but Chris looks at me like I'm crazy! He's concerned about money and getting a car BIG enough to fit 6 kids lol! I would love to have a house full of kids :D I'm so happy for you and so jealous at the same time ;-) But it's a loving kind of jealous :D

You guys have the most beautiful family and I LOVE that you got preggo when I did with Ever! You were the first person who knew besides Chris when I took that test when you guys were at our house in VA :D And you were so happy for us <3 And we are SO happy for you! I live vicariously through you my darling! And I'm rooting for a boy so Ever has a Ryan for the arranged marriage ;-) You know my girls like the "younger boys" ROFL! Or is it your boys that like the "older girls" HA!

We will keep you all in our prayers and are praying for a happy and healthy 9 months! We love you guys and miss you dearly. No matter how big your family gets you know you are always welcome in our home <3 Hugs and prayers <3

Congratulations!!!!! I am beyond thrilled for you guys! I have really enjoyed reading about your family and I look forward to reading about your pregnancy as well! I understand what you are going through in regards to people's reactions. We announced that we are expecting baby #5 a few months ago and we got a lot of blank stares, rude comments and just plain hurtful things said...some of it came from family and very close friends. I spent several weeks crying and feeling quite hurt. My husband and kids just cuddled me up and we celebrated together about the blessing God has chosen to grant us. I guess it's just too much to expect others to understand our decisions sometimes. I had gone to hear the Duggar family speak at my church and they were amazing. When I have a bad day I remember Mrs. Duggar and all the criticism she must deal with and I figure if she can find the strength to overcome, then so can I. Congratulations!!!! I think you news is wonderful!

I am very excited for you. I also know the uncertainty you are feeling about what this pregnancy holds and whether you should VBAC or not. I can relate to EVERY thing you listed, think. ;) Early in my preganncy this time I posted something on facebook about "I wish when people did not have anything nice to say they just would not say anything"... yeah, and if God would allow me to I would pack a roll of duct tape around with me and tape their mouths shut before they even open them. I also struggle with know that my daddy is not happy about my pregnancy... few people are, but it is harder when it is your daddy. One thing I have found it that the less everyone knows about your "plans for birth" the better, so you can kind of crawl inside yourself and search out what you want to do. I highly recommend you try to find a copy of "Ina May's Guide To Childbirth" and read it. It is very empowering. And know this... if you do decide to VBAC you will get very little support and will likely have great difficulty finding a caregiver, but you have to wait on God to work it out and trust Him to bring you through it. Hey, what do we do that is "easy" anyway, right? I mean we are already those strange homeschooling, mom to many, Jesus freak weirdos anyway. No one is going to ever think we are normal and that is okay because God's approval is ALL we need. Feel free to contact me anytime, if you need anything. In a couple short months I hope to be sharing a successful VBAC story of my own to inspire you. Meanwhile, someone shared this with me today and it was perfect.... http://aboverubies.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1000:vbac-stories--the-covenant&catid=176:vbac-stories&Itemid=400430

OH my gosh...I just found you on Top Mommy Blogs and something told me to check out your blog. Your children are absolutely beautiful! I have experienced ALL of the things you speak of, way back, telling my mom when I was pregnant the first time...um...er...a couple months before my wedding. Now my #1 of SIX is an amazing mom herself! I ALSO had a brother and his wife going through infertility when I was pregnant with my 5th...it was so hard to tell them and harder still when our last little blessing was announced.
I was ALSO admonished by some; once at work when a patient thought maybe I was having my first...when I told him I was having my 6th, he said "ya know they HAVE something for that!" (meaning birth control). I was stunned. And here we are, 6 kids ages 11-30 and I can't possibly imagine a single second of a single minute of a single day...
without any one of them. God has smiled on you. You have a HUGE but amazing job to do. I cried when you said the older kids cried...you have a special family Bridget. It's all more than a little AMAZING and nothing by chance!

Congratulations! I know exactly what you mean about announcing "high numbers" we only have four - but you would think we have 18 with the way some people react to us. God Bless - and wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy!

Well, I'm lucky number 7 in our brood:) What if my mom never had me???? I wouldn't be enjoying a wonderful life with His love, blessings, my husband, my kids - I would've missed out on watching my brothers and sisters make all the mistakes so I could learn from them (haha!) I wouldn't be able to touch the lives God allows me to touch. Life is a gift and I'm sure my mom got some eye rolls...but we're all grown up now and how she wishes we were still little so she could live her wild and crazy life again. Even after having 7 kids...seems like it'll never end...but it does and they leave! Anyhow....she does get the blessing of many grandchildren and great grandchildren. My mom cried when she found out she was pregnant with me and she had a very wise friend tell her "stop crying...this baby is going to be a blessing" I know you're not crying...well maybe cuz you feel sick...but you realize your baby inside is a blessing...and God has an AMAZING plan for his/her life! Don't blink at this one either girl!! Love you Blondie:):) I'm here if you need anything!

Dearest Bridget,

Hip hip hooray!!! Congratulations!!!

As sad as I am to admit it, I know exactly what you mean when you express your sadness about family and friends not being happy about the new life growing inside of you. It got so bad for me at one point that I finally had to say to someone - who likes to regularly describe herself to others as "pro-life" - that I think she ought to be more truthful and describe herself as "anti-abortion" instead, because she sure as the sun shines wasn't "pro"-the life of my new baby on the way. Apparently four children is too many children :(

I'm sorry, this was supposed to be a happy congratulations, not a bitter rant. Also, I apologize that it has taken me so long to send prayers and blessings your way. I haven't been much of an online presence since our newest was born mid-October.

I am very happy for you and your growing family. You and your husband are showing the world a beautiful example of the life giving love that is meant to come out of the marital union of a man and a woman.

Your children are beautiful and so are you. I'm blessed to know you.

Here's a tip: move out to San Diego for this baby to be born at the UCSD Hillcrest Birthing Center with a midwife and a doula AND the comforting presence of an entire hospital at your fingertips - just in case - without feeling like you're in a hospital. I delivered Juliana there and it was wonderful.

Well, now that you're onto baby number six, I'm TWO behind and have to catch up even more!!! Ha ha ha.

May our Lord bless and keep you as you raise your children to know and love and serve him with their lives.

You can do the VBAC2! There are a few who will do it here in So cal. google Susan Gill. If money is an issue then there is another great mid wife in bakersfield who is much cheaper. She is just in bakersfield! Her name is Brenda Capps. My best friend had a VBAC2 just over a year ago and it was the most beautiful amazing experience ever! You can do it! Having had 3 in a hospital with epidurals and my last at home totally natural I can tell you with confidence that my home birth was my easiest and most wonderful labor yet! God's will is perfect and good whether you are at home or in a hospital with a c- section! Trust his leading! Yay for your newest blessing!
We are expecting Baby #5. Ours are 7, 5, 3, and 1. I can completely relate to your experience with being fearful of telling everyone. Just know that somewhere there is a complete stranger in the exact same situation who would be completely excited for you and the new blessing God has chosen to give you!

Congrats! I just stumbled onto your blog while researching Roadschooling.
My husband and I have 6 children,2 are grown and one will leave the nest this fall.We were getting very excited about the idea when what happens?
I find out I'm pregnant...at ...43!
We are a mine ours and theirs family.
So we have my 3 from previous marriage, which sweet husband adopted years ago, we had 1 together
and then adopted 2 little sisters from So Cal, where we lived 10 yrs ago.
I have not had a baby in 14 years!
The kids are ecstatic! Husband elated! Self? ...confused. I have battled health issues my whole life and was finally getting on top of them when, this. I don't do pregnancy well, very sick.
But reading your blog has really cheered me up! Of course I'm excited about this baby and see it as a gift from God, it just takes soooo much out of me. Thanks for your post and all of your posts.
Not only are they entertaining, but inspiring and I find myself agreeing with you and cheering you on too! We need to have eachother's backs as moms, homeschoolers and
Christians. It's hard, really hard.
My oldest 2 sons have gone down sad paths and I still hope and pray for them, but it's so hard to watch all of your life's work be tossed by the wayside. That is when you place them back into their Fathers hands.
Love them all you can but let them
go.
And now I'm going to do it all over!
I must be crazy!
Thank you for being crazy too!
All the best this year! Your newest fan,
