Born To Be Wild

No, I'm not talking about girls gone wild kind of wild. I'm talking about a different kind of wild. Not a bad wild but a good wild. I'm reading this book:

and doing the study guide that comes with it. This book is a must read for anyone who desires to live wildly different. (different for God)
So grab your cheetah print gear and start living the WILD life God has imagined for you. A life bigger and grander than you ever thought possible.

Another book that has really inspired me was Crazy Love by Francis Chan. I'm actually reading it again with my husband. After each chapter you can watch a short youtube video of him talk about that chapter. I just love Francis Chan...here's a small video that just shows a little bit of how crazy and wild he is......

Has anyone else read A Different Kind Of Wild or Crazy Love?

and now to the zoo pictures...
I took my 3 wild girls......

and my 2 wild boys...

to the San Diego Wild Animal Park
and we did some pretty wild things....
like go on an animal ABC hunt.

hide in a cave....

see how far we could jump....

I even tried to break out my triple jump skills from the good old track days...We won't post a picture of that.

we learned how certain animals hear....

we went in a huge bird cage and studied some birds....

pretended we were turtles.....

and took tons of pictures........

Just the fact that I had to be in San Diego by 9am (which is almost 2hrs away) to get in for $1.00 (with our homeschool group) was WILD.....ha!
I know this was a long post but be sure to stop the music and watch the video.

Crazy Love is awesome and you have to read his other book: Forgotten God. Also, have you read Jim Cymbala's books before?? Must reads: You Were Made For More and Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire. That book sounds good that you are reading. Have you ever done a Beth Moore Study before??? She is amazing- so much Bible info and application! Love hearing your love for God, we need to encourage more to be bold and speak up!!!

Thanks for the book reviews!! I love the zoo pics. (Especially the one of little Farrah sticking her tongue out on the bench with her siblings!)

I have heard nothing but good things about that book. I am so glad you enjoyed it. But I was sort of surprised at his comment in the video that homeschooling was "safe". I couldn't think of anything more daring than my decision to actually take the entire child rearing process into my own hands. To me, that was CRAZY! ;)

Just found your blog ... from Twinsanity ... and look forward to reading more.

I bought the Wild book for my eldest daughter (24) for her birthday last month. Reminds me to ask her if she has read it yet.

Our family LOVES the Crazy Love book. The day that I read a few excerpts to my husband, he told me to go buy 5 more copies (for our adult children). That was 6 months ago. Now, he is in the middle of doing a 10 week sermon series on the book. I just bought Francis Chen's next book ... on the Holy Spirit.

BTW ... we LOVE the San Diego Wild Animal Park. Way cool.

We also LOVE Road Trips. I need to read more to find out exactly what you're doing. I just got back from taking 7 of my kids on a month long, 7,300 mile cross-country road trip. We visited 12 states, and stayed with a lot of Bloggy Friends. It was an AWESOME trip.

We've homeschooled for 19 years. I, too, love to find homeschooling family blogs with families that "don't look like homeschoolers". I ditched the denim jumpers about 15 years ago. :)

Blessings,

mama of 13
