Last Day of School

Yesterday was our last day of school. We are taking a summer break and will start again in September. Whooo hoooo! Our last day of school ended with a letter to the president. The kids practiced writing in their best handwriting and proper letter format. Austin, asked a few questions concerning world hunger and gas prices. Faith on the other hand asked if the white house has a pool as well as a fountain. She was trying to get her daddy business. We finished our history time line and bible poster of the names of Jesus. I can't believe we did it! We made it through our first year of homeschooling, my kids actually learned, and I haven't totally lost my mind yet! This called for a celebration, daddy took us all out to dinner followed by dessert :)

Trip To The Zoo

Today we went to the LA Zoo. My sister Brenda came along so I could say at least half the kids were hers. Just kidding (kind of) No, really she did help me chase after Landen since I can only waddle so fast these days. I also got to try out my new stroller my sister's bought me :)

Me looking like a hippo in a zebra suit pushing my new stroller.

Aunt Brenda and Landen

Austin telling his brother and sister about each animal. (so cute) He even had other people listening to what he had to say about some of the animals.

What I wish I was doing instead of pushing the stroller up and down hills

What a cute little elephant

Summer Survival

Before I start checking airplane schedules for the next flight ANYWHERE besides home this summer I am trying to plan out things to keep the kids busy.
We are taking a break from our normal school schedule, but from keeping the kids from forgetting everything I taught them this year I ordered some books called Vacation Stations. They are from the Bob Jones University curriculum. It's a summer program to help review and reinforce what they learned throughout the year. I also just purchased, Mastering Elementary School 2009 Edition. It includes key subjects such as science, social studies, language arts, and math. It has over 20 hours of audio books and thousands of interactive questions and answers. Even printable test. This means I won't have to do anything :) and they will still be learning. I am looking forward to NOT following a schedule for 12 whole weeks!

Thunder Thighs

Farrah is my little 25lb rollie pollie. She is like a squeeze toy. If you squeeze her she toots. LOL...it's so funny. She loves to be held all the time. It's getting to hard for me to carry her everywhere. I really think she's too fat to walk. She is almost 14 months old and has no desire to walk. All of my other kids were running by this age. But.........Today, she stood by herself for awhile. She is walking with her walker everywhere. I think she will be walking in the next couple days.

Come to Daddy:

We also are official summer geeks! I took the kids shopping for some summer clothes and they picked out these......

I know they are the ugliest shoes ever made but they are easy to slip on and off. Which makes my life a little easier. Hey, it's not like I bought them all the jewels they wanted to decorate them with. I had to put my foot down somewhere.

Drama Class

End of the year play. Last Friday the kids were in a play called, "The 13 Colonies." They learned so much about history just from memorizing all the songs. Here's a few pictures:

No Child Left Behind

NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND—The Football Version

1. All teams must make the state playoffs and all MUST win the championship.
If a team does not win the championship, they will be on probation until
they are the champions, and coaches will be held accountable. If after two
years they have not won the championship their footballs and equipment will
be taken away UNTIL they do win the championship.

2. All kids will be expected to have the same football skills at the same time
even if they do not have the same conditions or opportunities to practice on
their own. NO exceptions will be made for lack of interest in football, a
desire to perform athletically, or genetic abilities or disabilities of themselves or their parents.
ALL KIDS WILL PLAY FOOTBALL AT A PROFICIENT LEVEL!

3. Talented players will be asked to workout on their own, without
instruction. This is because the coaches will be using all their
instructional time with the athletes who aren’t interested in football, have
limited athletic ability or whose parents don’t like football.

4. Games will be played year round, but statistics will only be kept in the
4th, 8th, and 11th game. It will create a New Age of Sports where every
school is expected to have the same level of talent and all teams will reach
the same minimum goals. If no child gets ahead, then no child gets left behind.
If parents do not like this new law, they are encouraged to vote for vouchers
and support private schools that can screen out the non-athletes and prevent
their children from having to go to school with bad football players.

Too Big To Blog...

My fingers, feet, nose, ears, you name it is swollen. I'm too big to do anything. We have 4 days left of school and I am determinded to finish on schedule. We have a busy week ahead of us! 4 days and counting....
