Learning Makes Us Hungry.....

The old cracked Bell still proclaims Liberty and Independence Hall echoes the words,
"We the People."

"Proclaim LIBERTY throughout all the Land unto all the inhabitants thereof" (Leviticus 25:10). (the bible verse that's on the bell)

We explored Franklin's Philadelphia and learned a lot about the past and how America's Founding Father's struggled to make a Declaration that "all men are created equal."
the kids turned in their homework and got more badges for all their hard work.

We learned a lot about Benjamin Franklin.
Enjoyed reading some of his quotes from Poor Richard's Almanac on our drive there.

Three may keep a secret, if two of them are dead.

God heals and the doctor takes the fees.

Early to bed, and early to rise,
Makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise.

One should eat to live, not live to eat.

Well done, is better than well said.

Carpenters Hall...

first meeting place of the Continental Congress 1774

The printing press

where they kept the lower case and upper case letters.
(in the cases)
This is where we got (lower case and upper case from)

If the kids could answer questions right from the Rangers they would get trading cards. The did very well and now have a collection.

Betty Ross house

Asking a Ranger a question.

say cheese money!

We saw how coins are made.

Up stairs in Independence hall. Where the Liberty Bell use to hang.

Assembly Room

Where the Declaration of Independence was signed.....

After hours of lectures we started to get tired and hungry.

What better lunch than a Philadelphia Cheesesteak (in Philadelphia!)

I wanna go!!! You are never going to regret this trip!! It all makes me realize that a trip we have planned this summer could be a great chance to learn along the way, also.

What a fun way to learn! We're studying American History with Sonlight next year and planning to take a roadtrip (nothing like yours of course.)
